MARKETORDERS GETS MORE COVERAGE IN THE PRESS FOLLOWING THE LAUNCH ON CROWDCUBE

MarketOrders, which taps blockchain tech to make the jewellery buying process more transparent, has kickstarted its crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube.com.

Aiming to raise a minimum of £400k, the startup plans to use the funding to officially launch its platform. Founded in 2016 by Sukhi Jutla (pictured above) and Ram Krishnna Rao, it is looking to transform the way in which independent retail jewellers purchase gold and diamond products from suppliers.

The venture has been self-funded to-date and will use this first round of external funding to make a number of strategic tech hires, who will primarily focus on developing the platform, which is currently in beta phase. It will also be able to bring onboard a number of international suppliers and invest significantly in marketing.

Rao comments: “Having worked on a number of jewellery ventures in the past, I feel confident that we’ve got a strong business model in MarketOrders. There was a clear gap in the market for an online marketplace that provides independents with superior buying benefits, and we’re excited to roll the platform out to more retailers and suppliers in the coming months.”

MARKETORDERS CROWDCUBE CAMPAIGN GOES LIVE !!!

MarketOrders, an award-winning B2B marketplace for the gold and diamond jewellery industries, announces it has kickstarted its crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube.com. Aiming to raise a minimum of £400k, the start-up has already reached 90% of its target through private investment before even going public. The company plans to use the funding to officially launch its platform, which will use blockchain technology to make the gold and diamond jewellery buying process more transparent.

Founded in 2016 by Sukhi Jutla and Ram Krishnna Rao, MarketOrders is on a mission to transform the way in which independent retail jewellers purchase gold and diamond products from suppliers. Specifically, MarketOrders uses technology to ensure jewellers can get the products they need faster, cheaper and directly from global suppliers, while cutting out the middle man.

As the first fully end-to-end B2B marketplace for the jewellery industry, MarketOrders is setting its sights high on the power of blockchain technology to weed out bad actors and money from the jewellery supply chain. As demand for gold jewellery continues to grow – in 2018, 48% of gold demand was consumed as jewellery – this will be critical to ensuring greater transparency at an industry level.

Sukhi Jutla, co-founder and COO of MarketOrders, said: “We’re thrilled to be crowdfunding for MarketOrders, and this funding will make a huge difference as we look to expand our exceptional team and invest heavily in updating our platform. We are passionate about supporting independent retail jewellers, and we strongly believe this marketplace will put the power back into their hands.”

Having been self-funded to-date, this first round of external funding will help MarketOrders grow its offer exponentially. The firm plans on making a number of strategic tech hires, who will primarily focus on developing the platform, which is currently in beta phase. The funding will also enable the start-up to bring on board a number of international suppliers and invest significantly in marketing.

The crowdfunding page is available here  with rewards ranging from discounts on products available through the MarketOrders marketplace, to a limited-edition solid gold 22-carat coin and 22ct jewellery set.

Ram Krishnna Rao, co-founder and CEO of MarketOrders, said: “Having worked on a number of jewellery ventures in the past, I feel confident that we’ve got a strong business model in MarketOrders. There was a clear gap in the market for an online marketplace that provides independents with superior buying benefits, and we’re excited to roll the platform out to more retailers and suppliers in the coming months.”

MarketOrders and its founder Sukhi Jutla have already won a number of awards, most recently being named as one of the Top 20 ‘Industry Visionaries’ by Outlier Ventures.

Sukhi Jutla Becomes Women’s Entrepreneur Ambassador of Westmont Enterprise Hub

Blockchain entrepreneur and MarketOrders Co-Founder Sukhi Jutla was recently chosen by Westmont Enterprise Hub to become their Women’s Entrepreneur ambassador. This new vibrant start-up facility, which is part of University of West London (UWL), aims to support and encourage entrepreneurship.

Empowering entrepreneurs

Westmont Enterprise Hub will link entrepreneurs with investment, business support, and University expertise to help them succeed and is a major boost for start-up businesses in the region.
With already more than 20 start-ups and 450 members, the Hub has connections to more than 500 businesses and plans to double its number of start-ups by the end of the year.
Sukhi commented: ‘The Hub is a wonderful initiative to cultivate and spark the incredible entrepreneurial talent growing in West London. The Hub benefits from the facilities of the University as well as connections to investors as well as other peer groups. West London has always been a thriving entrepreneurial area and its fantastic to see this infrastructure to support this thriving ecosystem.’

Laurence Geller CBE, Chancellor, University of West London, added: “Future growth in the economy depends on more people having the skills, knowledge and confidence to start new businesses. Through the Westmont Enterprise Hub, the University is supporting and inspiring students and the local community to achieve their dream of starting or growing a business.”

An Ambassador to lead the way

Sukhi’s role will involve advisory, inspiration, and leadership. Experience is gold, and Sukhi has got a lot of it through her career. Graduating from Royal Holloway, University of London after attending the local Ealing college and working in corporate finance, Sukhi wasn’t meant to be an entrepreneur. After a decade, she left the corporate world and explained her transition to entrepreneurship in her book ‘Escape the Cubicle: Quit the job you hate. Create a life you love’.
After 10 years of being an entrepreneur, several ups and downs and a few mistakes, she has become a fulfilled business woman and a thought leader in the tech space. Indeed, she has been recognised by a number of industry awards including the Asian Women of Achievement Awards, Management Todays ’35 Women Under 35′ and named a Top 100 European Digital Pioneer by The Financial Times and Google.

Sukhi gave us her insight on what it’s like to be an entrepreneur: ‘Most people think of the Richard Branson types of personalities when they think about entrepreneurship but it’s not always like that! I believe we all have the entrepreneurial spirit and it can be expressed in many different ways. My experience brings with it real insider knowledge on what it’s really like to be an entrepreneur and grow a business from scratch, how to deal with setbacks and how to keep moving forward. I will share my learning with the Hub community and encourage more people to consider stating a business, especially in West London.’

MarketOrders Co-Founder Named as One of the UK’s Top 100 Women in Tech

MarketOrders Co-Founder, Sukhi Jutla, was recently named as one of the UK’s top 100 Women in Tech. She recieved her award on Thursday 31 January during the awards ceremony taking place at the London County Hall, London.

The award’s celebration was an opportunity to meet and network with other winners, sponsors and judges; enjoy a three-course meal, wine and champagne reception to toast achievements.

The evening was facilitated by Kate Russell, BBC Click, Journalist, Tech Reporter and Author. The special guest speaker was Chi Onwurah, Labour MP for Newcastle upon Tyne Central and Shadow Minister for Industrial Strategy, Science and Innovation.

Only two days after receiving its certificate as a Top 100 European Digital Pioneer by The Financial Times and Google, Sukhi Jutla couldn’t be prouder: “I’m honoured to be named as a Top 100 Woman in Tech in the UK. The UK is one of the best places to launch your tech career and I hope this award continues to inspire more women into tech careers and show you can make a huge and lasting impact”.

Since September 2018, WeAreTechWomen has been searching the UK for the best female tech talent in the country. They received over 500 nominations from across the UK and Northern Ireland and 28,000 votes of support from across the globe. The calibre of entries for these awards was exceptional and all of the judges stated how difficult it was to arrive at the shortlist due to the amazing achievements of the nominees.

Vanessa Vallely OBE, Founder of WeAreTechWomen said, “At WeAreTechWomen we have made it our personal mission to shine a spotlight on women working in tech. Our strategic aim is to highlight 500 female future leaders in technology by 2022. The response to this year’s awards has been fantastic and calibre of entries has been outstanding! I am so proud to see so many women in tech recognised for their achievements and look forward to celebrating our winners and their achievements.”

Author of three books and World’s First #1 Bestselling ‘Blockchain’ Author, Sukhi and her team launched MarketOrders in 2016, with the ambition of evolving the gold and diamond jewellery industry using technology.

Two years later, MarketOrders is a running online B2B platform helping independent retail jewellers to get the products they need faster, cheaper and direct from global suppliers. Over a thousand products are available and the platform serves UK retailers and partnered with suppliers in four international locations: Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai and India.

On Wednesday 30 January, Sukhi received a great news from Hounslow Chamber of Commerce and the Hounslow Business Awards team. She and MarketOrders have been shortlisted respectively for Entrepreneur of the Year and Best New Business.

MarketOrders is currently preparing its crowdfunding campaign which will be live in February. The funds will be invested in the expansion of the team, technology development and marketing.

MarketOrders named on BusinessCloud’s 301 Female Tech Trailblazers list.

MarketOrders is pleased to announce their co-founder and COO, Sukhi Jutla is named as a Female Tech Trailblazer by the latest list announced by Business Cloud.

The list is made up of everybody from household names to inspirational women at the start of a journey in tech who have the potential to change the industry. The list is published online at Business Cloud as well in the Q4 2018 print edition.

Chris McGuire, BusinessCloud’s editor said:

We’ve ripped up the rule book…rather than limit ourselves to 101 names on our must-read lists we’ve taken off the brakes by publishing the names of 301 female entrepreneurs and pioneers of tech. One statistic that is trotted out is that only 17 per cent of people in the tech sector are women. We need to increase the number of women working in tech and we hope that by publishing a list of 301 female entrepreneurs and pioneers of tech, they’ll become role models to the next generation.’’

Ram Krishnna Rao, MarketOrders CEO said:

‘I’m very proud to have a diverse team as we actively encourage and promote more women in tech at MarketOrders so it’s great that my co-founder and COO Sukhi is recognised as a tech pioneer and serves as a role model to other women considering a career in technology.’
