MarketOrders Co-Founder speaks at the Young Business Club London

Our Co-Founder, Sukhi Jutla, was invited as a guest speaker to attend and speak at the Young Business Club London (YBC).

YBC London is a club for young Russian speaking businessmen and women. The mission of the club is to bring together entrepreneurs and startup founders and let them expand their network, learn, grow, share knowledge, interact and establish business relationships.

YBC London is part of a growing network of YBC clubs. It started 3 years ago in Kiev, then London. In October, they opened a club in New York. This year, they plan on expanding to Berlin and Tel-Aviv.

Sukhi spent her time on the stage sharing her top tips on ‘How to be a fearless Founder’. She shared on:

  • The MarketOrders journey

  • How to grow a team

  • How to get press coverage for your business and products

  • How to overcome hurdles and rejections

  • The key to building a resilient mindset

  • How to raise funds from angel investors and crowdfunding platforms

  • Supporting more women into entrepreneurship

The event was held at the iconic Institute of Director’s venue at Pall Mall with a lovely evening reception and Tatiana Fokina, the wife and CEO of the owner of Hide restaurant and Hedonism wine store Mr Chichvarkin also spoke at the event.

Tatiana shared her journey into creating the world’s best wine store and the obstacles and challenges faced when growing a Michelin starred restaurant.

MarketOrders Co-Founder invited to meet with Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice at St James Palace

Our Co-Founder & COO, Sukhi Jutla, was recently invited to meet with Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice at the royal residence St James Palace, where the Princess hosted the Good Growth Summit.

Designed to celebrate female entrepreneurs, the Good Growth Summit connects and inspires female leaders from across the US and UK technology ecosystem.

This exclusive invite-only event is designed to build connections and collaborations and to help female founders access the tools they need to start and scale their companies.

This year, the Summit was hosted by Her Royal Highness as she is a passionate advocate for helping to promote more women into technology and herself works for an artificial intelligence company in London.

The Princess expressed how she was personally inspired and encouraged by seeing so many female entrepreneurs driving the UK commerce forward. From her own business experiences, she expressed she didn’t underestimate the courage and conviction it takes to succeed and offered her support as we collectively work to create a more gender-balanced environment for innovation.

The event kicked up with a wonderful lunch reception followed by an afternoon of inspirational leaders sharing their top tips and personal journeys into the forays of tech.

Some of the guests had flown in from Silicon Valley and they shared their experiences in the hope of forging new relationships with our incredible UK talent pool.

The stories that we heard were all geared to inspire and fuel personal and business growth and it was wonderful to hear such inspiring stories.

Amongst the speakers were:

  • Joanna Hoffman – who joined Apple as the 5th employee and worked with Steve Jobs
  • Jennifer Rademaker – Executive Vice President – Mastercard
  • Linda Avey – Co-Founder of genetics testing company 23 and Me

MarketOrders Co-Founder nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year award by Women in IT Awards Series

Our Co-Founder & COO, Sukhi Jutla, has just been nominated for the Entrepreneur of the Year award by Women in IT Awards series.

The Women in IT Awards series aims to tackle this issue and redress the gender imbalance, by showcasing the achievements of women in the sector and identifying new role models.

Sukhi reacted to the news: “It is wonderful to be shortlisted in such prestigious awards that showcase the best talents and endeavours women are making in the IT and technology field. Congratulations to all those shortlisted and it is my sincere hope that these awards continue to inspire even more women into this field.”

Organised by business technology site Information Age, the awards were launched as a platform to celebrate women in technology. Since its launch, in 2015, the Women in IT Awards have showcased women in technology in London, New York, Ireland and Silicon Valley. This year the awards series will expand to celebrate women in technology in Singapore, Berlin and Toronto for the first time.

This growing awards series acts as a flagship and high-profile platform to support the industry in its mission to move the dial on gender.

MarketOrders Co-Founder Shortlisted for National Digital Awards

Today, MarketOrders COO & Co-Founder, Sukhi Jutla, has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Digital Entrepreneur of the Year at the 2019 Digital Entrepreneur Awards (DEAs).

MarketOrders is an online marketplace designed by entrepreneurs, for businesses. Specialised in the gold and diamond jewellery industry, MarketOrders disrupts a traditional sector by using new technology which benefits both suppliers and retailers.

Created in 2016 by serial entrepreneurs Ram Krishnna Rao and Sukhi Jutla, MarketOrders aims to empower high street retailers by helping independent retail jewellers to get the products they need faster, cheaper and directly from global suppliers.

The DEAs are the only national awards dedicated to championing digital entrepreneurialism and innovation across the UK.

The finalists beat off competition from hundreds of businesses that entered, across 20 award categories.

The awards, now in their 15thyear, cover categories encompassing every component of today’s online business ecosystem – from enigmatic leadership to forward-thinking development and cutting-edge creative. Categories include Social Media Campaign of the Year, Most Innovative use of Video or Animation and the coveted Digital Entrepreneur of the Year award.

Previous winners of the awards span a range of sectors, from retail giants like Sainsbury’s and PrettyLittleThing to smaller, more agile digital specialists like Social Chain and Clicky Media.

Among the judging panel are Jacqueline de Rojas, president of techUK and chair of the Digital Leaders Board; Heather Waters, enterprise manager at NatWest; Vikas Shah, CEO of Swiscot Group and Susie Ma, founder and CEO of Tropic Skincare.

One of the UK’s true tech heavyweights joins the judging panel this year. President of techUK and chair of Digital Leaders, Jacqueline de Rojas serves on the government’s Digital Economy Council and is an advisor to a number of fast-moving tech companies.

Commenting on the DEAs, de Rojas said: “We are known as a nation of innovators and of entrepreneurs. It is quite simply a privilege to judge the technologies and innovators at the frontier of change.

“The UK is a nation of technological significance and shining a light on entrepreneurship in this space is a way of investing in our digital future.

“I have seen the smallest of changes make the biggest of differences and I am delighted to see the creativity of our digital entrepreneurs fixing real-world problems that are worth solving.”

MarketOrders Celebrates Diversity at the London Stock Exchange

 

 

The London Stock Exchange Group welcomed Diversity UK on Monday 11th June 2018 to mark its contribution to improving equality and inclusion in Britain and to mark the publication of the 2018 edition of the #Top100AsianStarsinUKTech #innovation #women #tech #entrepreneurship.

 

 

Our very own Sukhi Jutla, Co-founder and COO of MarketOrders was invited to the LSE to celebrate being listed on the Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech.

 

The date coincided with the launch of London Tech Week 2018 and the 171st birthday of women’s rights campaigner, Millicent Fawcett. 

 

Diversity UK members and guests were welcomed by Nikhil Rathi, CEO of the London Stock Exchange Group and senior colleagues from the organisation’s diversity and inclusion team. 

 

Lord Gadhia, who was a judge for Diversity UK’s Top 100 Asian Stars in UK Tech 2018 list, gave the keynote address emphasising the importance of diversity and inclusion for Britain.

Our co-founder, Sukhi Jutla, was a finalist in the entrepreneur category of the AWA Awards and we celebrated the event last week with a gala dinner held in association with NatWest, the 2018 Awards were held in the presence of Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex, Her Grace The Duchess of Wellington, Tulip Siddiq MP, Baroness Amos, Director, SOAS University of London, Rachel Johnson, Journalist, Author, Lewis Lukens, Deputy Chief of Mission for the US Embassy in London and actress Amrit Maghera

 
The Asian Women of Achievement Awards, founded by Pinky Lilani CBE DL in 1999, celebrate multicultural Britain and the contribution of diverse cultures and talents to UK society. We put on a platform, the phenomenal Asian women across the UK and across industries, who are making a valuable and important contribution to British life. The awards play a key role in redefining the contribution of Asian women; and informing a new, positive, pro-diversity debate.

 
Sukhi said, ‘I feel honoured I was selected as a finalist in the entrepreneur category and I hope to use this platform to further shine a spotlight on the amazing things female founders and entrepreneurs are doing”.

We are thrilled to announce that Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex, the Global Ambassador for the Women of the Future Programme, will be joining us at the annual Asian Women of Achievement Awards on May 9th at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

 

 
The Countess has been a long-time supporter of the Women of the Future Programme, having attended the Women of the Future Awards and Summit in previous years.
